| A trained Scientology minister or minister-in-training uses the technology of auditing to better other individuals spiritually (that is having to do with the individual’s soul, not materially or physically). The term auditor comes from the Latin audire which means "to hear", or "to listen." A person receiving auditing, referred to as the preclear (one who has not yet “cleared” his reactive mind), sits opposite the auditor. The auditor then proceeds to ask specific questions, called processes, which are designed specifically to locate and deal with areas of spiritual distress for an individual, have him find out things about himself that he was not aware of, and improve his condition in life. There are many, many different commands that can be asked, each having a specific point at which they are ended. As a person moves through these processes with an auditor, he is progressing further toward spiritual freedom. While there are many commands, and each person differs in their life experiences, and therefore the exact content of their reactive mind, auditing is successful because what makes up the reactive mind is identical from person to person. Often with the aid of an E-Meter [see article here], the auditor can locate and handle all of the area of upset, distress and difficulty in the pre-clear’s life. Auditing is not a haphazard or random activity. The results are completely uniform when correctly applied. As there are no variables in auditing, each process is exact in its command, and obtains a definite result done correctly. Gains from auditing have been carefully documented, and clearly show that the results are, indeed, as precise as stated. In fact Scientology auditing is often regarded as the only workable technology of the mind and its relationship to the spirit. How an Auditing Session is Conducted. Auditing consists of several elements; the preclear, an auditor, the auditing process, communication (essential to the session), and frequently, an E-Meter. In combination, they resolve the reactive mind. An auditing session will take place in a quiet, comfortable place. The preclear sits opposite the auditor, with the E-Meter and the auditors notes on a table between. An auditor will often keep notes of his session in case he may need to refer back to themthis is the only use of session notes, as they are covered by the same confidentiality laws that govern confessions to any minister. Different types of auditing are used, depending on what the pre-clear is most in need of. There is an exact series of processes that any individual will follow to improve him on a gradient. By use of the correct process, the auditor will find an area of the preclear’s reactive mind to address with auditing. Once located, the auditor encourages the preclear to direct his attention further to this area. He is now addressing his reactive mind. By going over the matter in the correct fashion, and using the E-Meter as needed to ensure he is staying on the right track, more and more information from the person’s reactive mind comes to view for him. As he continues to view it, the mental charge begins to discharge, and the person’s awareness increases. During the auditing a person may have many realizations or cognitions about his life. These are points where the preclear finds something about himself or his abilities that he was previously unaware of. These cognitions are frequent, and indeed are part and parcel of any auditing session. In one auditing session (which may have lasted one hour or a few) the preclear will have gained a higher degree of awareness. Perhaps he will have rid himself of an irrational fear, or no longer suffer from a psycho-somatic illness (that is an illness having a mental source, rather then a physical source). The bottom of what has been bothering him has been nullified, and the person is feeling emotionally better. As more and more areas are addressed with further auditing the individual becomes stably better and better, happier and more in control of his life. It is important in looking at auditing that a person find out for himself, and experience auditing firsthand. Why does Auditing Work? In an auditing session the preclear is helped to overcome his own reactive mind by the assistance of the auditor’s and the preclear’s analytical mind. It was discovered that a person by himself is not able to overcome and vanquish his own reactive mind, and so the role of the auditor was born. The properly trained auditor can exert enough pressure with the preclear to overcome the preclear’s reactive mind. The technology of auditing has been thoroughly tested on many willing preclears by the Founder, L. Ron Hubbard under scientific conditions. We are therefore able to utilise only the most workable and usable auditing questions and processes devised. Naturally improvements differ from person to person, and rate of change will also depend on the individual. This is merely a reflection of the inherent individuality in us all, a matter which auditing seeks to augment and improve. |
