The History of the Melbourne Church of Scientology

Staff members the Melbourne Church had sent to the training organisation at Saint Hill in the UK for specialist training had returned, including the new Director of Training. A promotional magazine with photos of all the staff was sent out to Scientologists all over Australia , further sparking a new wave of interest in Scientology.

While it was not a requirement to be trained as an auditor (Scientology spiritual counsellor) to join staff at the Melbourne Church, it was almost expected with the vast majority of staff being at least Hubbard Professional Auditors.

Due to no small part to the average auditor training level of the staff, training was heavily promoted by the staff to the field. There was a lot of training of students with course rooms full - getting trained as training as a Scientologist was definitely the thing to do.

Additionally Melbourne Org had several flourishing groups and franchises sending in students and preclearsto the main center. One of the most famous was the "Melbournev College of Personal Efficiency" at 39 Riversdale Road, Hawthorn. This franchise delivered auditing and training and was a very social organization with gatherings and parties held for the staff and public. Geelong also had a very large representation with it's Dianetics group sending in new Scientologists to the Melbourne HASI for further training and processing.

With the org booming, staff numbers were rapidly growing. The Melbourne Org had weekly Saturday seminars, constantly interesting new people and selling books by the hundreds each and every week.

Scientologists were working in every part of society in Melbourne, and meanwhile building up the other organisations around Australia.
