In November 1959 the Founder of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard went to Melbourne to deliver the historic Melbourne Congress and the ACC (Advanced Clinical Course for more dedicated Scientologists). Scientologists flocked to Melbourne from all over to be the first to hear L. Ron Hubbard in the Southern Hemisphere. Mr. Hubbard now had Scientology training courses standardized all over the planet, and had just established Saint Hill in the United Kingdom organisation for central dissemination and training of Scientologists around the globe. He then embarked on a round-the-world tour to now ensure the stability of all Scientology organizations. His first stop was Melbourne, Australia as a necessary base in the Southern Hemisphere. L. Ron Hubbard gave his message at the Melbourne Congress on the 7th and 8th of November to a crowded hall of Scientologists from all over Australia, New Zealand and even other countries across the globe. Scientologists in Melbourne hold firm to this day, to their unique responsibility assigned by LRH at the Congress, as “the last safe harbor”. It was after this Congress that Scientologists returned to their homes and started to use all that they had learned to disseminate Scientology, and use it to help others in their communities. Many started groups, sparking a boom that was to build for some years. A complete recording was made of that 1959 congress, and is available on CD from the bookstore today. |
